After extractions, we advise all of our patients to wait 6-8 weeks for their gums to heal before we take impressions for a permanent, custom denture. This helps us ensure the best fit.
However, if you don't like the idea of being without teeth for up to two months, we can place an immediate denture on the same day that your teeth are extracted. In a little over an hour (sometimes less); you arrive at our office with your natural teeth and leave with a new immediate denture in place. Please ask any of our team members to explain more about immediate dentures if you are interested.
In certain special circumstances, or for patients who desire extra retention, resulting in a much more secure-feeling denture without using adhesive (denture glue), Our dentist may recommend an implant-retained overdenture. Dental implants are a surgical procedure provided by an implant specialist in which posts are placed into the jawbones beneath the gums. Then, we create a denture with "snaps" that fastens to the implants in the mouth. These snaps secure the denture, preventing slippage during everyday wear, giving the denture a more stable feeling and making it easier to talk and chew.
